Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an Agent for Service?

If you hold or want to apply for a certificate, rating, or authorization issued under 14 CFR parts 47, 61, 63, 65, 67, or 107 and don’t have a physical address in the USA?

You will need an Agent for Service.

47Aircraft Registration
61Certification: Pilots, Flight Instructors, and Ground Instructors
65Certification: Airmen Other Than Flight Crewmembers
67
– Medical Standards and Certification
107 – Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS)

Why do I need an agent for service?

The FAA introduced this requirement to ensure it can reliably serve legal notices, letters, and other official documents to people or companies who are outside the U.S. but hold or want to apply for FAA-issued certificates, authorizations, or ratings. In the past, the FAA struggled to locate or communicate with foreign individuals or entities holding U.S. certificates which made it hard for the FAA to uphold U.S. aviation laws and protect aviation safety, especially when urgent or legal matters arose.

What does Designated FAA Service (DFA) do as my FAA Agent for Service?

We serve as your official FAA Agent for Service, meaning we receive FAA legal notices, compliance communications, and official correspondence on your behalf. We are an FAA mail forwarding service for airmen with no U.S. address. Once we receive a document from the FAA, we immediately scan and forward it to you via email and upload it to our secure online portal. Additionally, we offer physical mail forwarding for important items if you request it.

Is the Designated FAA Service (DFA) service complaint with the FAA?

Yes, fully compliant with FAA AC 3-1 for secure and timely mail handling.

What happens if I don’t appoint a FAA U.S. Agent for Service?

Individuals who require an Agent for Service and fail to designate one may not exercise the privileges of any certificate, rating, or authorization issued under 14 CFR Part 47, 61, 63, 65, 67, or 107, and an individual aircraft owner's aircraft registration certificate will be considered ineffective. The FAA may take enforcement action against these individuals consistent with FAA Enforcement and Compliance Order 2150.3.

How long does an Airmen have to change their address?

The deadline is July 7, 2025.

Once I’ve subscribed to the service what do I need to do?

You need to go to https://usas.faa.gov (USAS website) and enter our details as your agent for service. It is not possible for an FAA Agent for Service to do this for you, it must be completed by the FAA Certificate holder.

What if I’m not happy with our service?

We offer a 30 day, no questions asked, money back guarantee. Contact our support team and we will refund you. You will need to update your address on the U.S. Agent for Service System (USAS) https://usas.faa.gov to stay compliant

How much does the Designated FAA Agent (DFA) subscription cost?

We charge $65 per year for our service. There are no hidden fees. We don’t charge to upload your FAA correspondence. If mail forwarding is required we don’t charge a handling fee, but you will be responsible for courier / postage fees.

How does the Refer a Friend referral system work?

If you received a referral code from another user, you can enter it when signing up and you will receive a $10 discount. Once you are a subscribed user you will get a referral code you can share with anyone needing our service. You will earn a $10 credit towards your next annual payment for every user you refer and they will get the $10 discount.

How quickly will I be alerted about important FAA communications?

We will upload documents to our portal and notify you by email within 1 business day. This is important to avoid missing service of time-sensitive documents. In some instances, the appeal and reply deadlines of documents that the FAA serves can be as short as two days.

Is my information secure with Designated FAA Agent?

Yes, we prioritize your privacy and security. All data is encrypted and we will not share or use your details to spam or market to you. We use Stripe for payment processing, so your payment details are secure.

I’m a drone pilot, does AC 1-3 apply to me?

Yes. AC 1-3 specifically mentions Part 107 - certificate for commercial drone operators.

Stay FAA Compliant for $65

Any FAA foreign certificate holder, including pilots, mechanics, and crew members who reside outside the U.S., must designate a U.S. Agent to comply with the new regulation.
